   BETTY PAGE in a charmingly coy 5.5 min. Harem dance which for all its modesty is still a wonderful classic as she shimmies & shimmers without actually removing a single Persian Silk. Also, rising head & cleavage above the rest of the stripper chorus is the serene LILI ST. CYR in an ultra tame routine which could serve as the perfect 1st reel for her more revealing work elsewhere.

    In '55 Klaw carried this format to a higher level of glamour & spice by showing 7 featured strippers with some tasteful exposure. Like Varietease, this version begins with a short preview reel & original titles followed by the main event in high quality image & color. BETTY PAGE leads off without shedding a single item but then becomes the title card girl who introduces the other acts beginning with TEMPEST STORM. Betty joins Tempest as her personal maid & the 2 pose & primp for 10 luxurious minutes in black lingerie as Betty helps her curvaceous mistress stuff herself into her suggestive body armour. 4 fairly average bumpengrinders do brief routines & then TEMPEST is back for another 4.5 min. of vintage stage strutting. SHERRY KNIGHT does classic pose & peel down to the regulation gauze bra & panties and then BETTY returns to peel corset & skirt in a 6 min. swoon & pout session and the grand finale is 7 min. of bump & rump with TEMPEST doing her famous Horizontal Tit Wiggle as gauze bra & proud pasties rock back & forth hypnotically. Tho not even a single nipple takes a bow in this stylish concoction these magic moments are gilded pinnacles of the great tradition of glamorous Striptease.

    USCHI DIGART, MICHELLE ANGELO & JOYCE GIBSON (MANDEL) star in this landmark nudie-cutie shot in the psychedelic sensualist style of the summer of love. The camera not only leaps off the tripod but floats all over the set & bumps into soft bouncy things in a point of view that puts us in the eye of the beholder & even catches our mitts swinging around from the side to grab a handful of pulchritude. MICHELLE is the most accomodating touchee while JOYCE prefers to remain statuesque & aloof albeit fully nude. The plot has our antagonist visiting a desert harem slave market & sampling the wares – sometimes in simulated humping. The joy of this colourful bazaar of boobies however is the ribald fantasy of rolling around the seraglio with out trio of bountiful breast queens & a couple of dozen other equally shameless naked hussies. This major step beyond the stand back & let 'er peel style almost puts the mighty mammeries right in the lap of the viewer. Color & image quality are very good.

   The Sensational Scandinavian Stack Star does simulated lezbo sex in this 70's sexploitation tit-flic with a very fine solo bed roll & lots of lusty grabbing & squeezing which really reveals the fluid dynamics of the well filled wonder juggs. Image quality is very good except for some atmospheric emulsion scratches & a heaping dose of the Digart Double D's in action make this an Uschi treasure.

BLAZE STARR GOES NUDIST (1963)

   Blazing Sun. Blazing Color & Blaze Starr stark nekkid. Altho we never see any of those nasty & at that time illegal pubic pelts, we do get enuf nude B.S. to see exactly how she stacks up against the other great Striptease Queens of the day & we do get some hint of the person behind the pout & the beehive. The nudist camp is utterly asexual but there are brief moments of naturist charm & the image quality of this bizarre document is excellent. In a phrase, "gold, lame (lam-ay) pedal-pushers".

    Imagine a behind the scenes movie about nude modeling in the early 60s with Florida locations, models supplied by Bunny Yeager & at least a dozen really shapely bunny babes posing in the buff & cavorting in the warm sun. The film style is 50s mundane but this only heightens the sense of surreal as unknown tit-queens like the Michelle Angelo clone with beehive hairdo pop out of their period gowns. We follow a naοve heroine from nude figure art model to centerfold & the film unrolls an amazing vision of the stark reality of shooting the great bare skin stars of the 50s & 60s in a sharp & colorful rendering.

HOLLYWOOD BURLESQUE (1948)

    The Real Thing filmed on stage at the Hollywood Theatre. This lavish extravaganza includes all the variety, style & charm of Burlesque at its zenith – vaudeville with tits. There are 6 featured strippers & a 5 min. finale with the headliner strip stylings of Hillary Dawn. Not the 7 greatest figures in the history of BQ but one of the best complete shows ever recorded.

   A half dozen ultra classy 40s strip routines are the meat in this bogus travelogue stew and they are so well done that they look like naughty bits from feature films. Mixed with some low comedy & hi-art European theatre bits they give a rich illusion of world Burlesque with triple-A hi-lites.

   Genuine Burly-Q stage strippers from the glory days of the art. Most of the girls are representative of the circuit which means not exactly perfect figures but the star of this Carnaval is the monumentally equipped TEMPEST STORM performing her full original routine from gold lame gown right down to g-string & soaring pasties.

VEGAS NIGHTS (1954)

   Amazing time travel to Vegas in the 50s. Floor shows, Burly babes, bump & grinders and naughty nightclubs & all are accompanied by original scores. Only a rube would believe that all this was actually shot in Sin City but who cares? A fine panorama of stage strippers from the heart of the golden age with an extra 17 min. of striptease filler flics at the tail.

A NIGHT AT THE FOLLIES (1956)

    A complete Burly show from L.A.'s Follies Theatre with all the trimmings kicked off by a dozen dancing girls. Another great record of how it really was in the heyday of Striptease with 5 girls in the supporting cast & a headline performance by the splendid EVELYN "Treasure Chest" West doing a version of her famous "hubba-hubba" talk & tease strip routines.

KISS ME BABY (1957)

    Another complete burlesque show filmed by the most famous director of the genre, Lillian Hunt. 71 min. of the classic comics & peelers are followed by a full 9 min. of the star attraction, curvaceous TAFFY O'NEILL doing the familiar 3 part layered peel leaves her in pointed pasties & slender g-string as the action switches to color for 8.5 min. of Striptease Revealed which has LILY ST CYR back in her famous bath-tub & TEMPEST STORM bursting out of silver lame to shimmy & shake in the legal minimum pasties & g-string. Very good image quality from an original negative.

      Described below are several series of videos from Something Weird which contain many different films gathered together in "potpourri" collections. The series have titles which suggest clear categories but these are really just general guidelines and any given volume may contain films in black & white and in color, big busts & small, classic strippers & motel models, sparkling gems from original negatives & heavily scratched or color shifted old release-prints. This unpredictable mix of great glamour girls & raunchy rejects is a perfect mirror of what the viewer used to see in peepshow arcades. Each volume may feature from 20 to 120 different nude models. Our method of reviewing these volumes is therefore to mention the hi-lites in tapes that we feel are good values overrall. Since some of these series contain hundreds of volumes we are nowhere near having seen all of them nor can we list every appearance but we will continue to add more reviews of Something Weird titles at regular intervals.
